Josh Fredman, Editor

In the mountains of Texas!

My name is Josh! Thank you for taking the time to look around my site!

I write for a living and supplement my income by editing other people's writing. I have over fifteen years of experience as an editor, with a specialty in high-end, analytical editing. In plain English, that means I'm the sort of editor you hire when you want it good rather than cheap.

I pride my clients' satisfaction with my work and long-term loyalty to my services. I earn that by being not only friendly, prompt, and reliable, but by being meticulously attentive to the details and having a knack for wrapping my head around what the writer is trying to say, no matter how tangled.

My motto as an editor is simple: Do it right. I don't use tricks or gimmicks. I simply offer a high-quality service that speaks for itself.

Robust communication is very important in my work. It's your discretion of course to set that dial as low or as high as you like—some clients prefer to hand work over to me and wash their hands of it, which I can certainly accommodate—but the more you care to tell me about what your goals are, and the more interactive we are once the editing process begins, the better I can serve you.

Personal Life & Interests

I currently live in the Pacific Northwest, in a city north of Seattle called Bellingham, with my pet opiliones (a real-life cross between soot sprites and spiders). I do well here since I'm a big fan of cloudy, cool weather. Some of my pastimes include contemplative silences, cooking, composing music, and checking out the rich scene of indie content creators on YouTube and Twitch. I'm a pretty private person, which is interesting given what an open book I am on the Internet. I'm in my thirties, philosophically-minded, and left-handed. I keenly lament the lack of airships in our everyday lives.

Much of my energy I spend on my creative work. I like to tell stories about the beauty of the world, the fleetingness of things, and the wonder of living and dying. You can check out my writing at CuriousTale.org.

The "Joshua Tree Studios" imprint refers to the fact that I also offer freelance writing services, video and board game design consultations, and low-end web development (such as this website, though my Curious Tale site is a little more impressive). If you have an interest in any of those services, get in touch with me.
